Artist Bio
Luana Aprile (b. Italy) is a visual artist based in Maastricht, Netherlands.
After graduating from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, her artistic journey shifted from the studio to a broader exploration of the world.
Driven by a deep urgency for freedom and discovery, she spent over a decade working abroad across London, Greece and the Canary Islands.
Returning to painting four years ago, her work emerged not as a continuation of her academic past, but as the physical distillation of these lived experiences.
Today, she translates her foundational investigation of light and shadow into deep, textured layers of acrylics and structural mediums. Her current work explores the psychological tension between unpredictable material chaos and the human necessity for geometric containment. By combining sculpturally worked surfaces with deliberate, rounded forms, she creates a dialogue between physical depth, spatial rhythm, and emotional balance.
Recently establishing her practice in Maastricht, her work was presented in a solo exhibition at the Rechtbank Limburg, where a primary work was acquired for their public collection.
