Artist Bio

Luana Aprile is an Italian artist based in Maastricht (NL).

Since graduating from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, her work has undergone a progressive synthesis, moving from the rigorous chiaroscuro of her early surrealist drawings to her current focus on material abstraction.

Today, she translates the atmospheric gradients once explored in charcoal into deep, textured layers of acrylic and mixed media. This evolution marks a transition from representational forms to a minimalist language where the physical presence of the medium becomes the primary subject.

By bridging her academic foundation in tonal transitions with the physical depth of sculptural textures, she creates a dialogue between structured precision and fluid, intuitive color fields.

Her current practice focuses on an investigation of the “tactile landscape”, exploring the boundary between the physical weight of the material and the ethereality of light.
